The Trade Federation is still messing with the good people of Naboo and the people still need a hero to save them. You're cast in the role of Gavyn Sykes, the proverbial "young and dedicated Naboo soldier fighting to defend his planet." No, it doesn't have the same hook as Rogue Squadron where you were flying Red-5 as Luke Skywalker, but it's the same formula that has worked in many games before it. The story line for The Battle for Naboo will be separate, but parallel to the events that took place in the film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. If only we could have a guarantee that those audio powers will be used for good (authentic combat sounds) and not evil (anything uttered by Jar Jar Binks). Also, because it's a Factor 5 game, the audio components of the game should be nothing short of awesome. We're expecting even more addictive gameplay and immersion in the Star Wars universe from this shooter. The engine from the now classic Rogue Squadron has been updated and optimized for Battle for Naboo so that you might even consider it to be new. The hype for the film, in spite of its recent VHS release, may have died down a bit, but that doesn't mean N64 fans won't appreciate a well crafted sci-fi adventure set in that universe. Finally, the last of the three Star Wars games N64 fans were promised has arrived in the form of The Battle for Naboo.
